Ellis Island National Monument

Visit Ellis Island's new Peopling of America Center! This major expansion of the museum tells the story of immigration to America before the processing station opened in 1892 and after it closed in 1954. The Center's exhibits explore the immigrant experience by following their journey to America, struggle and survival after they arrived, efforts to build communities, and becoming citizens of their new nation. With the entire story of American arrival now being told, the museum has been renamed the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. At the Museum of Immigration, visitors can follow the foot-steps of their ancestors upon arrival in America. "The Island of Tears" is a poignant film that documents the voyage to America.

Every visitor to Ellis Island receives the audio tour.

There are concession stands on all boats which sell healthy snacks and beverages, as well as merchandise. There are also concession stands and gift stores on Ellis Island.

You can take your own food to the island, but large coolers will not be permitted past security.

The ferry departs from Liberty State Park every 30-45 minutes.

Statue of Liberty & Liberty Island

Located on 12-acre Liberty Island in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty was a gift of international friendship from the people of France and is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy.

Every visitor to Liberty Island receives the audio tour.

The new Statue of Liberty Museum gives all visitors a more meaningful experience and deeper understanding of Lady Liberty's history. Visitors explore the museum at will - without the need for additional advanced reservations or tickets. The museum consists of three gallery spaces including the original torch. Each one is meant to inspire visitors and educate them about the Statue of Liberty in interactive and thought-provoking ways.
