Take a journey through the historic DuPont Company black powder yards and the garden and grounds of the first du Pont family home in America. This tour will show guests what makes Hagley uniquethe black powder yards, the historic machinery, and the original home of the du Pont family in America. Guests will see demonstrations of their nineteenth-century machine shop, watch a water turbine bring their eight-ton iron roll mills to life, and witness a black powder explosion. On the second half of the tour, guests will visit the du Pont family home, the first office, and their first garden and learn about how the family lived, worked, and played at Hagley.

Nemours Mansion and Gardens
Nemours is the 300-acre country estate of the late industrialist and philanthropist Alfred I. Dupont. Located on the grounds of the renowned Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, it derives its name from the town in France represented by Mr. Dupont's great-great-grandfather, Pierre Samuel Dupont de Nemours, as a member of the French Estates General in 1789. The mansion looms over the surrounding formal gardens and is furnished with fine antiques, famous works of art, beautiful tapestries, and other treasures. The grounds surrounding the mansion extend for one third of a mile along the main vista from the house, and are among the finest examples of French-style gardens in the United States. Visitors must be over 12 years of age.
Brandywine Museum of Art
19th century gristmill converted into museum which houses paintings by 3 generations of the Wyeth Family & other American artists.
Winterthur Guided Tour
Almost 60 years ago, collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969) opened his childhood home, Winterthur, to the public. Today, Winterthur (pronounced "winter-tour") is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America between about 1640 and 1860. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the du Pont family lived here, as well as in permanent and changing exhibition galleries.
Winterthur is set amidst a 1,000-acre preserve of rolling meadows and woodlands. Designed by du Pont, its 60-acre naturalistic garden is among America's best, with magnificent specimen plantings and massed displays of color. Enjoy the Garden Tram where you can sit back & let the tram guide you throughout the garden. (Tram subject to weather conditions)
