Central Moravian Church Christmas Putz

Since 1937, Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem has celebrated the Christmas season with its beloved Community Putz, a uniquely Moravian tradition. Similar to a crèche, the Putz tells the story of Jesus’ birth using mostly antique carved figures of German origin, beautifully arranged amidst live moss, driftwood, and rocks. Narration and music bring the story to life, while tiny lights illuminate each miniature scene, creating a captivating and heartfelt retelling of Christ's birth.

 

Moravian Museum of Bethlehem

One of Bethlehem's most unique holiday traditions is its Live Advent Calendar, believed to be the only one of its kind in the country. Held nightly from December 1–23 at the historic Sun Inn, visitors gather at 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. as a chosen guest knocks on the door to reveal surprises from local businesses, such as musical performances, stories, or tasty treats. Strolling along Main Street, you'll often encounter trombone choirs playing holiday tunes, a charming tribute to Bethlehem's Moravian heritage.

 

Christkindlmarkt

Christkindlmarkt is a one-of-a-kind family event that brings the spirit of Bethlehem to life. Recognized twice by Travel & Leisure as one of the best holiday markets in the U.S., this festive market features over 150 artisans offering handmade works, live Christmas music, and the cheerful sounds of St. Nick. Enjoy ice carving and glassblowing demonstrations, including the popular Hot Glass Experience with ornament-making sessions. Explore the Kathe Wohlfahrt booth, showcasing handmade German ornaments, nutcrackers, and collectibles. As you shop, grab a bite to eat and sip on a holiday cocktail from one of the two bars available.

 

Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts

Winter Lights is a spectacular open-air walk-through light show made from over one million lights! Located at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, North Carolina, see favorites like the famously tall 50-foot lighted tree and the Quilt Garden, along with enchanting new details designed to delight and surprise.

 

Brandywine Museum of Art

The Brandywine Museum of Art is renowned for its extensive Wyeth family collection, showcasing the works of N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth. Its Brandywine Collection highlights American art, with a focus on the region’s landscape, portraits, still lifes, and American illustration. The exhibition, Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade, explores themes of Black masculinity and self-examination through the artist’s powerful figurative oil paintings. The museum also features an annual Train Display, adding to its diverse offerings.

• Black Forest Ham and Muenster Cheese on Sesame Wheat, with Wholegrain Mustard and Mixed Greens

• Mozzarella Cheese, Sliced Tomatoes on Ciabatta with Spring Mix, Balsamic, Basil Aioli

Sandwiches come with a bag of chips, fruit, chocolate chip cookie, and Lemonade.
