Discover the story of America’s 44th President on a fascinating guided tour through Chicago’s historic South Side. Travel through the neighborhoods that shaped Barack and Michelle Obama’s lives and see many of the places connected to their remarkable journey, including where they first met and shared their famous first kiss, Michelle Obama’s childhood neighborhood, the Obama family home in Hyde Park, and the impressive Obama Presidential Center.

 

Along the way, visit the communities where Barack Obama began his career as a community organizer and launched his first political campaigns while learning about the rich African American history, culture, and landmarks that have shaped Chicago’s South Side. First Ladies National Historic Site & Saxton-McKinley House

Discover the women behind the presidency at the First Ladies National Historic Site, the nation’s only National Historic Site dedicated to the history of America’s First Ladies. Explore rotating exhibits highlighting the women who have shaped the role, including Michelle Obama, and visit the historic Saxton-McKinley House, the longtime home of President William McKinley and First Lady Ida McKinley.

 

Free day on own in Downtown Chicago OR return to Obama Center

Enjoy a full day to venture into downtown Chicago (drop off at Millennium Park on S Michigan Avenue) or return to the Obama Center (admission not included). Morning, mid-day, pre-dinner and post-dinner shuttles are included.

 

Nationality Rooms at the Cathedral of Learning

Tour the world through 30 exquisitely designed classrooms, each representing the art, architecture, and heritage of Pittsburgh’s immigrant communities. The Nationality Rooms celebrate timeless cultural traditions through craftsmanship in wood, glass, iron, stone, fabric, color, and words.

Dinner on day one is included at Bender's Tavern. Choices are:

• Chicken Piccata

• 8 oz. Texas Sirloin

• Fettuccine Primavera

Dinner is served with a Caesar salad, roasted vegetable medley, rice pilaf, and warm apple crisp for dessert. Soft drinks, coffee, and hot tea are included.

 

Dinner on day two is included at Mama Luigi's

Dinner will be served family-style and features mixed green salad, Italian-style chicken, roast sirloin of beef, penne pasta and Italian sausage with peppers, mashed potatoes and gravy, and steamed broccoli. Dinner is served with minestrone soup, fresh baked bread, and vanilla gelato for dessert. Soft drinks, coffee, and hot tea are included.

 

Dinner on day three is included at Giordano's

Dinner is served family-style and features pasta with marinara sauce, and a mix of thick and thin crusted pizza. Dinner is served with salad and dessert. Soda is included.

 

Dinner on day five is included at Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh. Choices are:

• Wiener Schnitzel: Breaded pork cutlet fried crisp and golden brown served with German potato salad, fried cabbage, and cranberry sauce

• Dunkel Bourbon Chicken: Grilled chicken breast topped with homemade dunkel bourbon glaze served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable

• Steel City Spaetzle: Sauteed smoked and spicy all beef brisket sausage and grape tomatoes, Spaetzle, tossed in a Parmesan cream sauce

• Hofbräuhaus Wurstteller: Grilled beirwurst, bratwurst, mettwurst served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes

Dinner is served with soft Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese, salad, and apple strudel with vanilla and raspberry sauces for dessert. Soft drinks, coffee, and hot tea are included.

 

Lunch on day six is included at Eat N' Park. Choices are (Guests order when seated):

• Baked Cod

• Grilled Chicken

• Shredded Pot Roast Sandwich
